Now just hold on before you roll your eyes. "Layering a slip dress? Real original Mabel, this isn't summer 2016 you know" - I do know! But before last year, the slip dress belonged to the 90s, and before that it belonged to nightwear only. So just you hold your tongue before you say I've done this look before. The differences are clear.

This is a take on the slip dress, but rather than layer with a T-shirt like we all seemed to do last year, I've gone for a ribbed high neck long sleeve top. I love wearing high neck tops as they can instantly make an outfit look more sleek and streamlined. It's a great contrast to the silhouette of the dress. This dress from Missy Empire also has some gorgeous lace detail, I love the feel to it as well. It's the perfect weight, not too heavy.

There's something so elegant about long earrings and high neck tops. I love these gold ones from Accessorise as they match the hardware on the bag.

Maxi-ing your slip dress is basically a fast track to a cool and put-together fashion look. They have a more sophisticated feel than mini versions, and layering with tops underneath is a great way to add a maxi hemline into your day-wear wardrobe.

Another instant style life is basically making sure your bag is not bag-shaped. If you're out shopping you're bound to see round, spherical, pyramid and who knows what else shaped hand bags. This cute triangular one is from Asos and is kinda a two-birds-one-stone bag since velvet is also on trend right now.

These little white slingbacks are from Primark! I'm loving Primark for shoes right now, and since these are stylish flats they've been the dream this week. London is tiring, and as much as I love sock boots, I need a bit of comfort.
